On September 1, 2026, Argerich Arts Foundation will donate Argerich’s Haus to the Oita Prefectural Government with the consent of the Shiiki family who kindly donated it to our Foundation.

This transfer aims to pass Ms. Martha Argerich’s achievements as an artist onto future generations with Argerich’s Haus, the one-and-only facility in the world to honor her, as its foundation. Succession needs a strong foundation. In order to make the foundation solid, Argerich Arts Foundation and the Oita Prefectural Government have agreed to cooperate with each other and fulfill their respective roles to pave the way together.

We will further pursue the role of art in society with the facility serving as a place of learning for men and women, young and old alike, on the stable foundation realized by this transition along with the track record Argerich Arts Foundation has built up.

We will also carefully plan through consultation with the Foundation’s President Martha Argerich, aiming to advance new self-operated projects that a wide audience can enjoy, centering on the ongoing programs including this Resident Artist Series.

I believe Argerich’s Haus is a place where visitors can feel what conscience is, a concept that is symbolized by our independent program the Pinocchio Concert Project. This is because the Haus is where the spirit of Ms. Martha Argerich, who continues to tirelessly strive for further evolution, resides within this facility, together with the hope of Mr. Masakazu Shiiki who donated the Hause. Moving forward, we will cherish this spirit and work hand-in-hand with the Oita Prefectural Government to safeguard Argerich’s Haus.

As we embark on a new chapter, and out of respect for the resident artists who have shaped our 32-event history, we are naming the program the “Resident Artist Series.”We would sincerely like to ask for your continued understanding and support.
