The Music Festival Argerich’s Meeting Point in Beppu Information Centers
The Music Festival Argerich’s Meeting Point in Beppu, the core event of Argerich Arts Foundation, has been progressing under the objectives of providing meeting points for musicians and audiences and fostering the creative development of children.
To further promote these objectives, we established fourteen information centers in Oita Prefecture (Bungotakada, Kitsuki, Hiji, Usuki, Tsukumi, Saiki, Bungoono, Taketa, Kusu, Kokonoe, Yufu, Hita, Nakatsu, and Usa) in December 2005, and in Seoul, Korea as the first overseas information center in May 2009. In December 2010, Kunisaki and Himeshima became the 16th and 17th centers. In May 2011, Kitakyushu City became the first information center outside Oita Prefecture. In addition, in 2014, Beppu, the base of the Music Festival, and Oita, capital of the Prefecture, joined as information centers. The support and participation of seventeen municipalities comprises a strong power for collaboration between the public and private sectors. Through these centers, we began holding community concerts in 2006 by appointing chevaliers at each meeting point.
These concerts will be held throughout the year to deepen ties between local communities, individuals and music, and contribute to the development of local culture.
We hope to build good relationships with local communities by sharing information conveyed from the Music Festival. The Music Festival also holds young musicians’ concerts and other concerts in cooperation with music halls and enterprises outside Oita Prefecture.
