The Argerich Arts Foundation Prize

The Argerich Arts Foundation Prize was established in 2015 with the aim of providing promising young musicians with an opportunity for their debut at places including “Shiiki presents Argerich’s Haus,” a facility with the name of world-prominent pianist Martha Argerich, in liaison with music competitions with long history and tradition inside and outside Japan that have produced many first-rate musicians.
The Prize at the Student Music Concours of Japan Kitakyushu district competition has been chosen by Ms. Argerich herself. Overseas, the Prize was first given to the winner of the piano division at the Concours International Long Thibaud Crespin in November 2019 when Ms. Argerich took office of jury chairperson for the piano division.
The winner is invited to give a recital at Argerich’s Haus, perform at the Beppu Argerich Music Festival and has a master class. The Prize contributes to the development of young musicians and the promotion of high-quality art in Oita Prefecture.
