Shiiki presents Argerich’s Haus Chamber Music Concert Series “Creating the Future”

Fifty-one years since classical music superstar Martha Argerich first set foot in Japan,
and now twenty-seven years since her first encounter with Beppu City, Oita.
The first Music Festival in the world bearing her name surprised the world as the “Beppu Miracle”.

In the spring of 2015, another “miracle” happened.
The world’s only “Shiiki presents Argerich’s Haus” was launched.

To Martha Argerich, who gives us such splendid times with music, the Haus is presented by Mr. Masakazu Shiiki, Honorary Director of Argerich Arts Foundation, as a token of respect and dearness to her.
With our wish for Argerich to continue sharing music with her own piano named Martita, this salon with extraordinary acoustics will bring about further excellent performances that will go down in history.
Together with Argerich, classical music palace “Shiiki presents Argerich’s Haus” will lead the way to the future, entrusting our hopes and dreams in music.

Creating the Future

Thanks to you, the chamber music series is now in its eighth year. This year’s theme is “Creating the Future.”
Classical music has been weaving its history for hundreds of years.
No matter how advanced civilization is or how different it is from the times when Mozart and Schumann lived, we are moved by their music. How strange and wonderful it is! The thing closest to people’s hearts may be music.

This year’s series also has interesting programs by superb musicians. Each one of these performances will mark the history of the special Argerich’s Haus, and that history will create the future and lead to the next generation.
