Eijiro Nakagawa

Eijiro Nakagawa began playing the trombone at the age of five. While still in high school, he recorded his first work as leader in New York. Nakagawa has performed with prestigious artists and recorded for many movies, commercials and television. In 2007, he appeared in the Tony Awards ceremony as the first Japanese artist to do so. In 2008, Nakagawa performed the main theme for the NHK morning drama series “Hitomi.” In 2018, he formed the band SLIDE MONSTERS with Joseph Alessi and others. Their debut album charted unprecedentedly high on the iTunes and Billboard charts, and the music video has been viewed over 1.3 million times to date, becoming a unique ensemble that transcends existing genres. In 2019, Nakagawa performed at “International Jazz Day” in Melbourne, Australia. He has also performed with major Japanese orchestras, including the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra, Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra, Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, New Japan Philharmonic, Sapporo Symphony Orchestra, City of Kyoto Symphony Orchestra, and Yamagata Symphony Orchestra, demonstrating his diverse talents across genres. As one of Japan’s leading world-class trombonists, Nakagawa is active in a wide range of fields.
