Kaname Hamaji

Kaname Hamaji graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts top of his class, winning the Ataka Prize and the Acanthus Music Prize. He completed the master course at the University. Hamaji took First Prize at the 86th Music Competition of Japan, winning the Iwatani and Seki Prizes at the same time. He won the 10th JEJU International Brass Competition, becoming the first hornist to win an international competition. Hamaji also served as a member of jury for the All Japan Band Competition National Championship. He served as an instructor for 2024/2025 Band Journal One Point Lesson session. Hamaji has been expanding his activities as a session musician and on YouTube as well and has participated in numerous recordings and tours.
He was the principal hornist in the Kanagawa Philharmonic Orchestra and currently he is the principal hornist in the Gunma Symphony Orchestra. Hamaji is also a core member of the Panda Wind Orchestra, guest principal hornist in the RENTARO Chamber Orchestra Kyushu, and a member of The Sixth Sense.
