Tsujimoto Rei

Tsujimoto Rei graduated from the Tokyo University of the Arts Instrumental Music Department with top honors. Then he studied at the Sibelius Academy and Bern University of the Arts. Tsujimoto won Second Prize in the 72nd Music Competition of Japan, and Third Prize in the 2009 Gaspar Cassadó International Violoncello Competition (the highest Japanese prize winner). In 2011, he gave debut recitals in five locations throughout Japan including the Suntory Hall in Tokyo. In 2013 Tsujimoto received the Hideo Saito Memorial Fund Award. He released a CD Oblivion in 2019 (one of the specially selected recordings by Record Geijutsu magazine). He has participated in the Saito Kinen Orchestra every year and performed chamber music with the quartet in residence of the Arkas Sasebo. He is a principal cellist in the NHK Symphony Orchestra. He plays a cello built by Antonio Stradivarius in 1730 provided to him on loan by NPO Yellow Angel, and a bow Tourte on special loan by an anonymous collector.
