Minorikawa Yuya

Minorikawa Yuya was born in Hokkaido, Japan. He began the violin at the age of ten, and after that he shifted to the viola. Minorikawa studied at Toho Gakuen Music High School and then graduated from Toho Gakuen School of Music in 2003. Since 2000, he has participated in live performances and recordings with bandneonist Komatsu Ryota. Minorikawa joined the NHK Symphony Orchestra in February 2009. As a conductor, he has conducted many ballet performances and has received high acclaim. Minorikawa is also active as an arranger, arranging orchestral arrangements for singer-songwriter Hanzaki Yoshiko and arranging all songs from tenor Sano Shigehiro’s album The Christmas Song. He has studied the viola under Edo Sumiko, the violin under Ichikawa Eiko, and conducting under Tsutsumi Shunsaku. Currently Minorikawa is a violist in the NHK Symphony Orchestra, and a member of Komatsu Ryota & Orquesta Típica and of the Gateway Solisten by the NHK Symphony Orchestra members. He also serves as Music Director for Camerata NAGANO, a wind ensemble & chamber orchestra. Minorikawa teaches at Senzoku Gakuen College of Music.
