Kanai Mari

Kanai Mari is from Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture, Japan. She studied percussion with Hirakata Makiko, Nishikawa Keiko, Wada Mitsuyo, and Fujimoto Takafumi. Kanai graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts majoring in percussion, and then completed the University’s Graduate School of Music. She performed as soloist with the Geidai Philharmonia Orchestra in a morning concert at Sogakudo of the University. Upon the completion of the Graduate School of Music, Kanai received the Acanthus Music Award. She participated in the Pacific Music Festival in 2016 and 2021. Kanai has completed the NHK Symphony Orchestra Academy. Currently she is a percussionist in the Kanagawa Philharmonic Orchestra and a core member of the PANDA Wind Orchestra.
