Ichi Hiroya

Ichi Hiroya was born in Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. He graduated from the Music Faculty of Tokyo University of the Arts and then completed the master course of its Graduate School. Ichi received the Doseikai Prize and performed at the fresh artists concert in the University. He won Midori-no-kaze Music Prize in the Risonare Chamber Music Seminar. His quartet received a grant from Matsuo Academic Foundation. Ichi performed at the Spring Festival in Tokyo, Beppu Argerich Music Festival and Kitakyushu International Music Festival, and performed regularly as principal guest cellist for the Hyogo PAC Orchestra. He studied in Munich, Germany, winning a scholarship from Affinis Arts Foundation. Ichi studied with Hanno Simons, acting solo principal cellist at the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra.
He is a member of cello quartet “Quartet Explloce.” Ichi goes on a nationwide tour and holds regular concerts in Tokyo every year. He also appears on the NHK-FM program “Recital Passio.” His CDs are released from King Records. Ichi is also a member of the ACROS String Orchestra and a quartet in residence of Yumenity Ogata. He is teaching at the Tokyo Junior Orchestra Society.
Ichi has been a cellist in the NHK Symphony Orchestra since January 2012.
