The 22nd MUSIC FESTIVAL Argerich's Meeting Point in Beppu Community Concerts
In 2021, we plan to hold concerts at several information centers in the prefecture.
Information Centers and Chevaliers around Oita Prefecture, at Kitakyshu City and Seoul
The Argerich Arts Foundation promotes activities to spread art and culture through Pinocchio Concerts that are held at information centers in cooperation with different communities around the prefecture.
The Association of City Mayors Oita Prefecture also cooperates with the Pinocchio Concert project.
We hope to offer opportunities for many people to come to know the attractions of each community through community concerts while promoting international exchanges through our Music Festival.

The first announcement: December 15, 2020

In May 2021, the MUSIC FESTIAL Argerich's Meeting Point in Beppu will come back to Oita and Beppu, in the season when fresh greenery sprouts. We are pleased and greatly appreciate you that we are able to make this announcement under the very difficult situation.
We will do our best to covey to you what we can do now.
It is young pianists who will drive the future of Japan that give these precious concerts.
Sympathizing for the victims of COVID 19 and the people who suffer under various difficult situations, we reaffirm that music provides us with the peace of mind and the light of hope: this is exactly what we would like to communicate to you now.

Argerich's Meeting Point in Beppu 2021 Concerts Information

Concert by Young Musicians of Oita Prefecture
This concert aims to foster young musicians who are from Oita Prefecture or who learn music in Oita Prefecture. Musicians are chosen through auditions. The concert has been held since the first Music Festival in 1998.

Artists: Eto Riko (viola), Kurata Rino (violin), Shimizu Nonoka (soprano), Takita Maho (piano), Tanaka Mika (piano), Maeno Ryoko (piano), Masuda Mion (piano), Staeheli Selina (violin), and others
Place: B-Con Plaza , Beppu
Admission free: Free entrance tickets are necessary.
We will make an announcement about the distribution of free entrance tickets in March 2021.

Young Musicians Soaring on the International Scene

A recital series by young musicians who won Argerich Arts Foundation Prize.

Argerich Arts Foundation Prize
This Prize was launched in 2015 with the purpose of offering a site for the debut and introduction of promising young musicians at "Shiiki presents Argerich's Haus," with the name of the world prominent pianist Martha Argerich, in liaison with high-level, traditional competitions inside and outside Japan that have produced many first-rate musicians. The winner will be able to give a recital at Argerich's Haus, participate in the Beppu Argerich Music Festival, and take a master class, etc. which serves to foster young musicians and send out high-level art and music from Oita Prefecture

Concours international Marguerite-Long-Jacques-Thibaud
The competition has a history exceeding 70 years in Paris, France, and is known as a gateway to success for young musicians as well as the Chopin and Tchaikovsky Competitions. In 2019, Argerich Arts Foundation Prize was given overseas for the first time as Martha Argerich served as the chief juror for the piano division.

[ Changes from the programs planned for the 2020 Music Festival ]
The Orchestra Concert will become a Chamber Music Concert in 2021 to avoid the risk of infections among musicians.
Mr. Min Chung (conductor), Mr. William Chiquito (violin) and Tokyo College of Music Symphony Orchestra will appear in the 23rd Music Festival to be held in May 2022.
We will announce the details of the Orchestra Concert as soon as we have decided.


The second announcement will be made on December 22, 2020.
The content will be about the community concerts.




November 30, 2020

The 22nd MUSIC FESTIVAL Argerich's Meeting Point in Beppu to be held this year was postponed due to the spread of COVID-19 infection. We will hold it from early spring through June, 2021 for a longer period that usual while watching the status of the infection.
We will make it possible thinking carefully of what we can do now.
Now we are making arrangements with related organizations in order to invite Ms. Martha Argerich and other artists from abroad to Japan.
We will keep you informed about programs when they have been decided.
We plan to make an announcement about concerts by Japanese artists as the first update on December 15, 2020.
We would sincerely like to ask for your kind understanding about the situation under the novel coronavirus pandemic.
